S3-E7 – Rubaphilos Salfluere

I thought I would let Rubaphilos Salfluere explain his biography a bit himself. Here is his text:

“My journey in to the realm of Hermetism, and more specifically Hermetic alchemy, began in the mid-80s when I first came across the works of Carlos Castaneda. They were the first books that presented to me the concept that systematic and complex systems of esoteric training existed from time immemorial. An idea that I had never come across previously. In the late 80’s in to the 90’s I met the last New Zealand graduate student of the famous alchemist Frater Albertus and began what would turn out to be a nine year long laboratory apprenticeship with her. That was the beginning of my Hermetic education, which would eventually see me involved in esoteric fraternities such as AMORC, Builders of the Adytum, The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Freemasonry and The Philosophers of Nature; always as a rank-and-file student, sometimes in administrative offices, often as a ritual officer and occasionally in a position of authority.

In the late 90’s I graduated with qualifications as a psychotherapist (of the Jungian persuasion), and ran a private practice for five years. I also studied for a Bachelor’s Degree in the sciences through Charle’s Sturt University in Australia. Which gave me a full background in Botany, Plant physiology, Viticulture, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology, Structural biology, Physics, Engineering Physics and the science of wine making (Oenology).

In the early 1990s I founded a small school of esoteric study which teaches Hermetic Philosophy generally, and inner as well as laboratory alchemy specifically. Today that school is known as the Heredom Group and its education branch is known as the Heredom College. While it publicly is involved in a strict and difficult Hermetic training, behind the scenes the group concerns itself with alchemical research and development (in the inner work as well as the lab discipline). I maintain a private online discussion forum on the subject of my Hermetic world view and host a podcast on YouTube called ‘Hermetis Scientiae’ which is an extension of that private forum in a more public format. I am also the author of two books – Hermes Paradigm: Books 1 and 2.

In this interview, we discuss his vast experiences with both laboratory and inner alchemy and their relationship to the Hermetic tradition, how he sees the difference between Western and Eastern traditions, and also – what does his alias Rubaphilos Salfluere mean?
