Thomas von Wachenfeldt

Dr. Thomas von Wachenfeldt, is an associate professor in Music at Umeå University where he teaches music theory, music history, and teaching. He is a classically trained violinist and composer, but also a Swedish national folk fiddler and death/black metal guitarist and singer. He composes for both rock and metal bands, as well as for chamber and symphony orchestras. Thomas is now actual with two albums – one with the Swedish death metal band Entombed and the recording of the legendary album Clandestine together with Malmö Symphony Orchestra, where Thomas is involved as a bassist and arranger of music. He

He has also released a new album with his blackened death metal band Wachenfeldt named The Interpreter, where he has composed music to the poetry of Aleister Crowley, Charles Baudelaire and Edgar Allan Poe.

 

 

 

Polska till Lilith

Polska till Lilith (Polonaise for Lilith) is a tune in the traditional style of Thomas’ home area in Northern Helsingland. The polska is dedicated to the mother of all creatures in the vast forests and mountains that surround his home.

INTERMEZZO – Apollonian Contemplation

The Intermezzo Apollonian Contemplation is a piece in the style of Sturm und Drang and part of a three-piece composition also containing a piece for Faust and one for Dionysus – inspired by the music of Swedish Composer Joseph Martin Kraus and the writings of historian Oswald Spengler.

Mason Word

Mason Word is a song taken from the album Visions of Dunkelheit by Thomas’ two-piece band Lodge Doom – a band he composes the music for and Eric Hellman sings and writes the lyrics.
